"And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do." 1 Timothy 2:9-10 NLT
“I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman’’ (Job 31:1).
In the age of fashion, Where many are pursuing and being moved by fashion, it is very important as Christians to be particular with how to deal with fashions and dressings, there are many who say dressings does not define us and since dressings differ from culture to culture we should not focus on it. Beloved, as much as this is partly true it is important to know the whole truth and the importance of appearance or dressing.
The way you dress can determine the way you are addressed... Your dressing communicates to your surroundings; a soldier is identified by his uniform, a nurse is recognized by her dress etc. Our dressings can define who we are and as such it is very important as believers to dress modestly. Worldly fashion is based on the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life. Fashion seeks to promote exposure and attraction. Today, there are fashions or dressings that expose nakedness breeding lust among the people, In this age of moral decline, ungodly fashions are being promoted in the communities and even creeping into the church. It is very sad today to see some Christian women dress seductively even in the church.
It is very important as Christians to know who we are in Christ so that we may know how to present ourselves before God and the world. The culture of the world with its fashions seeks to promote lust; however, Jesus said that; "We are in the world but we are not of the world". We don't belong to the world and hence we should not seek to promote lust like the people of the world do with its fashions but our priority as Christians is to please God in whatever we do.
Lust of the eyes and of the flesh
There are certain dressings that expose nakedness breeding lust, King Solomon said in Proverbs 7:10 kjv "And, behold, there met him a woman with the ATTIRE OF AN HARLOT, and subtil of heart."
The ATTIRE OF an HARLOT exposes nakedness and seeks to attract people to lust after them, many fashions are following that trend casting the spirit of lust among people who fancy it, it makes people desire them sexually... All these are devices of the devil to cause immorality and the fall of many.
"But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Beloved, we can see what Jesus said; LOOKING AT A WOMAN with LUST is committing adultery or immorality in the heart, the devil knows this and that is why he seeks to promote dresses that expose nakedness and that breeds lust holding in captivity many in lustful passions and thoughts of immorality. Irrespective of our culture, it is important as Christians to be circumspect of how we present ourselves, we are not to follow the world but to reflect Christ in whatever we do.
Seductive or naked dressings can cause many people to fall by causing lustful thoughts or the sin of immorality in the heart... With this in mind, every Spirit-filled believer will always seek to please God by dressing in modest apparel, let us not lead people into lustful thoughts by our dressings but let us show forth the glory of God in our modesty.
The effects of naked dressings or fashions is the fall of many weak brethren; and it displeases God when we knowingly or unknowingly cause many to fall by our seductive dressing.
"One day Jesus said to his disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting! It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin."
What a great sorrow that awaits the person who does the tempting!, Beloved, do not be deceived; immodest apparel is a tool used by the devil to tempt many. Don’t be one of those to whom the tempting will come through "half-naked dressings", honor God with your modest appearance.
1 Timothy 2:9-10 NLT
"And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do."
God wants women to be MODEST IN APPEARANCE and to make themselves beautiful in the things they do. Christians should not debate on "modesty" if they really know their "identity in Christ". During the British royal wedding, All the celebrities or Hollywood stars who are noted with naked dressings came there in modest apparel; the British royalty has a culture that reflects the dignity of their kingdom which does not compromise; even these celebrities knew that they had to dress modestly because they were attending a royal wedding.
As Christians, we belong to the Kingdom of God, we are members of His household and a royal people (1 Peter 2:9, Ephesians 2:19). We are ambassadors of Christ and our bodies are the temple of God, how much more modest should we be in our apparel? When we understand who we are in Christ, it will direct or motivate us to do the things that please Him. Honor God with your body even in modesty dress code, "say No to half-naked dressings".
“And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.”Ezekiel 44:23
''You don't have to dress half-naked to be beautiful. Be modest in apparel''.
Dress code at Christ Trumpet Ministries (quoted from CTM-General church regulation)
Considering this Scripture in Hebrew 3:4-5 “For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. 5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after” Therefore; I Lawrence vision bearer of Christ Trumpet Ministries, am duty bound to do and preach faithfully only what the Lord Jesus Christ Instructed me to. I have written down all the instructions, guidelines, and regulations for all ministers and members in this ministry as guided by the Holy Spirit based on the New Testament Apostolic Doctrine.
The following is the ministry guideline concerning dress code in both men and women;-
Women
All women should dress modestly and decently while coming to church (1Timothy2:9).
Church is not a fashion showground or a club where one would wish to show some of their private body parts.
Leggings, mini-skirts, revealing dresses, short dresses, back show dresses. Kundi show dresses, one-arm dresses, breast show dresses, see-through dresses, open chest dresses, damaged clothes, tight skinny dresses, and skirts are not allowed at church premises.
Women should not dress their bra-pumping breasts visible to the public while coming to church (1 Corinthians 8:9, Romans 14:14, Matthew 5:28-30).
Face painting, excessive luxury jewelry, eye painting, and lip painting with all sorts of colors is banned at church.
Plastic surgery, plastic nails, plastic eyebrows and all artificial adjustments to the body for beauty purposes are banned at church premises (Proverbs 31:30).
If any woman or man shall come to church for the very first time with such dress codes, the team of ushers shall identify them, give them a back seat, and after the service they shall be requested to remain behind; the church elder shall attend to them, exhort them in love and convince them about the true Christian character.
A woman shall not make a tattoo on her body, but if she has one and had it before she came to salvation, then she must cover it while at church.
Women shall not clean shave their hair neither shall she weave it with different colours while coming to church (1 Corinthians11:6,15).
Men
Men should dress modestly and decently before coming to church in their designated attires.
Men should not come to church while dressing disrespectfully like; armless, shorts, stylish attires, jewelry in ears and nose, balancing trousers, unbuttoned shirts, damaged trousers, shirts with evil or skull prints, etc.
A man shall not make a tattoo on his body, but if he has one and had it before he came to salvation, then he must cover it while church (Leviticus 19:28).
A man shall not weave his hair nor make dreadlocks while coming to church. Its an obligation for every Christian man to keep his hair at a reasonable height (1 Corinthians 11:14).
Caps and headsets should not be kept on the head while in church; it’s a sign of disrespect to God.
